This beautiful flagset is printed with the thangka-like design of the
Shakyamuni Buddha, surrounded by animals representing the six
perfections, and with his two chief disciples, Shariputra and Maha
Maudgalyayana. The Buddha Sakyamuni, at the moment of enlightenment, invoked the
earth as witness, as indicated by the fingers of his right hand, which spread
downward in Bhumisparshana Mudra, the "gesture of touching the earth." As the
Buddhist Sutras relate, the sun and moon stood still, and all the creatures of
the world came to offer obeisance to the Supreme One who had broken through the
boundaries of egocentric existence.
This design is screen-printed on fine cotton fabric using black and golden
ink. Blue, red and green are printed with golden ink while the white and yellow
with black. The flags are hemmed on all the four sides with matching
fabric-color-thread to add to the beauty of the flag and finally sewn onto a
nice strong white cord.
Each flag measures - 8.3" wide and 12" tall. Set of 5 flags is approx. 44
" long (excluding the outer cord); 6' long (including the entire length of
cord).
